The wireless network connection thing has got a big red x on it and 'not connected' suddenly - how do I fix pl?

Trying to upload a photo on eBay the thing locked and the only way out was to switch the computer off. When I restarted, the icon with the screen and the waves coming off it now has a red X on it, and putting the cursor over it brings up the box 'Wireless Network Connection - Not Connected. Right click for more options.' There are 4 - 'Change Firewall Settings'; 'Open Network Connections'; 'Repair'; 'View Available Wireless Networks'. Which do I go for please, and what do I do once there? I know naff all about computers I'm afraid, but as a housebound individual I really do need internet access. Thanks in advance for any and all advice. The wireless network connection thing has got a big red x on it and 'not connected' suddenly - how do I fix pl?
Right click and hit the View Available Wireless networks...then choose your router and hit connect...If that doesn't work try clicking the repair...and if THAT doesn't work then go to our router and press the reset button and HOLD for 7-15 seconds until it flashes...then repeat the steps...starting with connect...

But if you do reset the router then your not going to be secured...

This is the hard part...securing the router so your neighbors don't access it...

ONCE it's working...go to the internet explorer and in the www field...type in

192.168.1.1

you'll be prompted for a username and password...If its a linksys router

keep username blank and enter ADMIN for password...

then go to the wireless security field and enter a passphrase...WEP is good and 64 bit is fine...as long as it's secured....Once you put a passphrase in there it will generate 4 keys for you...which you should copy...then right click again...view available wireless networks...then connect...THIS TIME it should prompt you for the KEY that it generated for you...enter that twice and you should be good to go...The wireless network connection thing has got a big red x on it and 'not connected' suddenly - how do I fix pl?
Click on ';View available wireless networks';. Hopefully, your wireless network should be listed and be available to connect to. I for one, know that my connection gets dropped now and then and as soon as I reconnect, I am fine. If this fails, contact your ISP about the problems.
go for ';repair'; and, if it can't repair, there should be a button on your Wireless modem or router which you will need to press to re-connect to your PC
Ok try REPAIR sometimes Windows lose the signal of the Modem.
